silwyth
Hi, all, long time reader first time poster. My situation is that I bought a C mount camera which will arrive next month, after purchasing some Arri Bayonet Primes.. I did not think there would be a problem in finding a suitable adapter, but I have been very wrong. Will it be possible to use the AB - PL adapter I have, and attach that to the PL- C adapter that will be coming with the camera. Or will there be too much of a gap between the glass and camera to attain focus? Please let me know folks, I may have time to sell the AB lenses and get some C primes in time for my cameras arrival. Thanks in advance. Adam
Premium Member Bernie O'Doherty Posted July 24, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted July 24, 2012 Arri flange focal depth is the same for PL and bayonet :52mm. Unless the adaptors are off specs, you should not have a problem..........unless they're going on a Bolex. Then the lenses should have Bolex Rx mounts. Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted July 24, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted July 24, 2012 Yes, it should be fine, I've used that combination of adapters without a problem. As long as the adapters are properly made. If you want to rely on the focus distance scales of the lenses you'll want to get their back-focus checked when mounted to your camera, as each adapter will add a little more potential variation to that critical distance.
