Kip Kubin
https://vimeo.com/52911118 This test was just to quickly show the difference between the two mediums. I figured most "pro's would already have this in their head so I posted it in the new filmmakers, as that's what I am. No filters of light meter, both shoots were quick and made up as we went along. No color correction on the Ektachrome
John Holland
I am a out and out film man ,but i prefer the lower contrast of the Nikon ! . I dont think you can compare reversal film with digital . Using neg would have been a better test .
Kip Kubin
It's not the most scientific test. I never shot ektachrome before so I just repeated the scene twice to show my eye the differences...I did crush the blacks in the ektachrome to taste...when I tried to match the black levels in the DSLR footage fell apart...lost all the shadow detail. The next test I'll so will be with an Epic and Vision 3 Neg film....and I'll do a better job of shot for shot
CurtisHeyne
I shoot a lot of Ektachrome and that looks really nice. If you went for a film scan rather than telecine, you could get a bit more latitude in the shadows. Did I see some over cranking in there as well? zachary sala
i shoot film a ton, but there are tons of things are dslr's are good for that film could be more difficult such as car mounting. Each has pros and cons, each film will command either for different reasons. They are both different mediums, and should be treated as such..why can't both work.
