I've had them on for hours (probably as much as 6 hours once) Running with 500w light bulbs in them and they've never burned. Though usually I don't use anything stronger than 250w & no lantern smaller than a 16'' diameter. What I've seen get damage however are the sockets The ones that can't hold more than 150w get f%$ked up real easy When you put anything over 150w in them. Maybe someone should do a lab test to see: When and in what conditions a Paper Lantern will burn up. I wonder who'd be willing to fund that? Any good "flame-out" stories? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know I've only ever had one problem with that and that is when a hot bulb touched the lantern. I always use a ceramic socket affixed to a length of threaded lamp rod that goes into the grip head. That prevents the bulb from touching the lantern.
