Juan Carlos Montero Tudose
Hi, I'm trying to get a more or less exact manufacturing date for my 814AZ judging by what I see on the net, and I noticed a strange peculiarity in the battery check button. Mine is this, a simple button: What I often see (and is also mentioned in the user manual) is something like this: Mine has serial number around 100.000, while the other is in the 220.000's. This makes me think the change went from the single button to the bigger slot. Does anyone know why the design has changed and when? Any comment is welcome. Thanks. Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted December 8, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted December 8, 2012 I have two of these and both have two buttons. One red one for testing the AA's and one white one for testing the meter battery. Can't find the serial numbers however.
Juan Carlos Montero Tudose
Will, yes, they are fairly common with two buttons. S/N is under the battery meter: Juan Carlos Montero Tudose ======================= One Happy FilmMaker™ T+F -- +39 0381 325 522 M -- +39 339 297 0384 E -- info@tvitaliaweb.tv Skype -- tvitaliaweb www.unmatrimoniodafavola.tv www.tvitaliaweb.tv
David Cunningham
Yeah, definitely never seen on of these with only one button. How would you check the AA vs EE batteries with one button?
David Cunningham
You might want to ask the guys over at Pro8mm about this one. The Canon 814 AZ is pretty much "their camera". It's the one they are "most familiar" with. You could also contact http://willardengineering.com. They are formerly part of Spectra (still in the same building). They know this model pretty well too. Either place should be good for "tune-up" work on your 814, especially if the meter/iris continues to be flakey.
Juan Carlos Montero Tudose
David, thanks for pointing me to Pro8mm/Willard; I'll definitely contact both of them. Actually I don't check the EE batteries, now that I think about it...
