Anthony Kennedy
Can someone tell me how vision3 and vision2 differ? Also what would you consider the nicest daylight stock? I can't find any decent hd examples of vision3 50d, could someone please link a few?
Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted January 16, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted January 16, 2013 I don't have anything ready to post but I've cut a project that was Vision2 and Vision3 in 50D and really don't see any difference once the colorist is done with it. They cut together great. Theoretically it should be slightly smaller grain but well shot 50D has so little grain anyway that I haven't noticed a major difference. It was the last stock to make the jump to Vision3 and I would have been fine if they stayed with Vision2 on that stock anyway although progress is always nice, even if incremental. As far as "nicest" I guess you could say that. The only other one from Kodak right now is 250D which is nice too. :) If you are in 16mm and are shooting outside with plenty of sunlight then 50D would be the way to go. If you are shooting at sunset or sunrise and/or in shadow then 250D is great. In 16mm it's always best to go lower speed film when you can since grain can become an issue (although it's not that big of a deal between 50D and 250D).
