Paul Bartok
Looking for opinions on how to treat Vision 3 in respect to night time long exposure, any one have expereince with this, do I just aim for 0EV. Areas like parks, and streets with medium ilumination, Not cityscapes. I want to make the shadow areas really black, not so interested in having grain the size of golf balls in the shadow areas. I have 50D and 500T in stock, which stock would you choose Also what about reciprocity failure
David Cunningham
If I were doing this.... I would grab a roll or two of Ektar100 (the closest thing to 50D)... very similar emulsion. Take some test stills at varying aperture and exposure times (that you could then reproduce in your time lapse later). Of course, be sure to document your settings for each exposure. Then, review those stills for the best results. I would definitely go for the 50D if you want to avoid the grain. Go for slight over exposure on film then slight under in scan/post to darken your blacks without bumping up grain.
