Matias Nicolas
Hi ! .. I'm shooting this summer (southamerica) a production on a budget, with Epic & scarlet ... I'm planning to use the HDR process in camera so I can get a natural image , cause we are shooting at midday and need to be fast . I have some doubts , for example what happens with action scenes , fast pans, water-cascade, backlight sun , sun reflections, problems with the hdr, etc ... I was trying to find in several pages ( here, vimeo, youtube , etc ) more info of this process, but I can't find a very specific info ... somebody uses this process often ? or nobody uses it nowadays? Thanks !
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted January 2, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted January 2, 2014 Motion will kill you; Best not to use HDR in my experience and just do your best to control the lighting of your scenes with grippage. HDR does take 2 exposures, seperated by time, and then combine them-- so motion between those two exposures can cause trouble. If you do intend to do it, it's vital you test it before hand over a range of conditions you may experience.
