Jordan Watson
Hey guys, I've heard from numerous people that Avid is in financial trouble. Is this due to programs such as Final Cut Pro? Are they not marketing themselves enough?
Brian Drysdale
Here's an article on AVID's problems: http://www.screenlight.tv/blog/2013/03/05/will-avids-accounting-woes-spark-big-change-or-an-acquisition/ Also http://www.philiphodgetts.com/2013/04/whats-the-truth-about-avids-financial-position/ AVID have a number of products for example Pro Tools for audio, which seem to be doing better than the NLEs. The latter are well bedded into the Broadcast and high end world, but they have a pricing structure which makes it difficult in other sectors. Currently, Premiere seems to be making the running as the No1 in sales terms, although there are now a number of NLEs out there.
