Henry Cohn
I would like to hear your thoughts on what sort of lens is best for photographing something with little to no depth. I'm not considering a multiplane set-up but would be pleased to also hear thoughts on that.
Haris Mlivic
I might be wrong, but I'd say any lens. If its a flat surface, it doesnt really matter. You're obviously going to get less distortion with a 50mm than a 15mm, but other then that just find a sharp lens :)
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted August 7, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted August 7, 2014 Yes, as Haris says, you'd generally use a medium focal length with close-focusing capability for animation stand work to avoid any distortions that a wide-angle lens causes.
Henry Cohn
Thanks. If it doesn't make any difference, I'll probably just set a zoom lens to around 50mm. I decided to ask this on yahoo answers, where it was recommended that I use a macro lens or a process lens.
