Leon Rodriguez Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 I have yet to find either a video or DVD copy of Bertolucci/Storaro's The Conformist. I'd love to own a copy of that classic film. One of my all time favorite pictures. Is it even in print? If not; I wonder why not? Anybody know the scoop?
Jason Maeda Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 it is available on video, but it is a terrible transfer. it is not yet available on dvd. jk  p.s. http://www.criterioncoco.com has a section where you can email them with title suggestions.

Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted March 21, 2004 Premium Member Posted March 21, 2004 I have somewhere in my closet a VHS copy made off of TV when Bravo aired the restored version letterboxed. The problem is that the U.S. rights are owned by Paramount and they suck as far as getting their classics out. Still no widescreen DVD of "Reds" for example.
Leon Rodriguez Posted March 21, 2004 Author Posted March 21, 2004 Aargh! Let's write a collective letter to Scorsese.
David Mun Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 I remember seeing a copy on DVD and signed at birns and sawyer months ago. Not sure if its still there but I'm sure you can ask. Dave
Sam Wells Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 If you ever saw a Technicolor IB print of "The Conformist" you'd donate your DVD player to The Salvation Army :D -Sam
Justin Barham Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 This is definitely a major MIA DVD. But if they did it, I would hope they would do the transfer right.
