Hi,

I recently acquired a Minolta XL 84 Super 8 camera. I have some Vision 3 Kodak 500t already so I wanted to use it with this camera. The instructions for the Minolta says it takes Daylight ASA 25 or 100/Tungsten ASA 40 or 160. If I shot on Auto, in low light with the 500t (let's say on the street at night or in a dark theatre) do you think it will be okay? If not, any recommendations for Manual mode?

Thanks.

It's s a 220 degree shutter so that equates to 1/39 @ 24fps. in a lOw lsituation like you were describing I would even met one stop over. You're going to find that film stock is extremely forgiving in low light.

In full auto mode it will just open the aperture all the way wide open. in the low light situations that you are describing. So when you meter you're going to be getting the same f stop most likely.there is the question on how much grain you want. if you don't mind grain or in fact want lots of it try pushing the stock one or two stops to get a really good f stop. I have done so with great results and surprisingly not as much gran as I thought there would be at a push 2.

Hello again,

I have never metered for film before. In this case, would I set the ISO to 500 and the shutter to 1/39 on the meter, then push 1 to 2 stops from there?
