Harry Weaks
In recent times the AJA Cion was released to the public for purchase --in relevant terms-- but wasn't received well from what I understand. A lot of people panned it, but why did they? What did they find unfavorable about he camera? Is it the camera physical style? Weight? Size? Lack of specific features? Too many available features? Lack of inputs? Outputs? Type of memory storage it uses? Resolution it records in? Ability to allow certain lenses to be used wit it? Anything else not mentioned? Have you ever used the camera? If so, what did you think of it when using it? Do you disfavor it? If so, why? If not, why not? Do you know anyone who has used it? What did they think of it while using it? Do they disfavor it? If so, why? If not, why not?
Brian Drysdale
Difficulites with clipping highlights and a different approagh to handling the imagery, which caused problems. Other than that the camera recieved good comments. You'll find a full thread here, so there's no point in repeating things:http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=63231&page=
Premium Member Mark Kenfield Posted December 5, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted December 5, 2015 Crummy picture quality. The feature-set is terrific and the recording options really impressive. But the highlights clip hard and easily, and these days it simply isn't necessary to put up with that, thanks to a wide range of alternatives. I've seen a number of tests and short films shot on the Cion so far, and every one has born this out sadly. If AGA want to stay in the camera game, they need to switch out that sensor for something better ASAP.
