Jacek Zagaja
Those familiar with Arduino - is it possible to build cine projector with precisely controlled movement and LCD shutter (without pulling pin and blade shutter) that is very quiet and simple? Will this work?
Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted February 18, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted February 18, 2016 It's for sure an interesting idea however, you still need the film to stop for a moment, that's the only way to get a nice crisp image on screen. It's that starting and stopping motion that causes the noise. The only way around that is through a prism assembly, like what's used on a flatbed editing system, which is very effective, but not so crisp. So the advantages of using an electronic shutter are pretty limited in the grand scheme of things.

dan kessler
The design and construction of a precision film transport ofany type is a significant engineering challenge. If you havethe necessary skills, tools and experience, it's possible. If you don't, then expect a very long learning curve.
