Jon Kline
I'm considering a crazy high concept idea and curious if anyone here has any experience combining a ringlight with a teleprompter/interrotron. I'm thinking it should work if I put the light a bit closer than usual to the talent and use a long lens. But if someone has any pointers, I'm all ears. Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted March 26, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted March 26, 2016 Sure, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Aside from it possibly being a bit uncomfortable for the talent to look directly into their key and also read off the prompter.
Jon Kline
I'm thinking I will bring up the ambient behind the camera to help control squinting.
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted March 28, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted March 28, 2016 I'll bet if you bring the subject closer with a wider lens, you can lower the output of the ringlight quite a bit. That would work well for the Interrotron but not so well for prompter since the eyeline drift will be more obvious. I worked on a Interrotron setup once where we used something like a 14mm Master Prime wide open with the subject about 20" away from the focal plane. It was quite challenging to keep in focus to say the least. We didn't use a ring light, but that would have been an interesting place for one.
