estecam@mac.com Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Hi there, I was told that Panasonic discontinued the DVCPRO HD tapes ( the red lid ones). So I bought the standard DVCPRO "yellow lid" tapes for my Varicam. They said to me they were the same, except for the price and lid color. They worked OK on the camcorder, but the Panasonic's HD130DCP deck gives me a wind up error and the tape gets all damaged. The deck has always worked fine with the DVCPRO HD tapes (red lid ones) but they are discontinued! Should I sell everything?
Premium Member Nathan Milford Posted June 9, 2005 Premium Member Posted June 9, 2005 My Panasonic guy tells me this: "He has a problem with deck. All the tapes red lid, blue lid or yellow lid are exactly the same 8.5 µmm thick with same base layer and metal particle formulation." You can talk to Mariusz here at Abel (at the number below). He works on our decks. he should be able to steer you in the right direction.
estecam@mac.com Posted June 10, 2005 Author Posted June 10, 2005 (edited) The red lid tapes have a hole on the back whereas the yellow lid tapes don't. hmmmmm. My deck works great with red lid tapes. Actually I bought this tape deck from Abel. Edited June 10, 2005 by estecam@mac.com
