Romain le Faune
Hello ! I'm a junior cinematographer, I tried to edit a watchable reel with some (very low-budget) short films I shot. Your advice and comments will be welcomed =) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeIQneW-wro
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted July 10, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 10, 2016 Looks good, nice work! It feels a bit repetitive, but that's sort of inevitable at this point in your career if you don't have that many projects yet. Just swap out bits as you get more variety in your work. Would be nice to see more greenery and more exterior footage in general. Maybe choose your next few projects that have different looks. I'm not sure you want to keep the BTS shots at the end, only because it emphasizes your age. It's not particularly fair, but for the level you are at I think producers and directors would expect someone who looks older. That's a good thing, you're pretty advanced! But it may cost you some job opportunities. I would just make your reel about the quality of your work, don't give potential employers a any reason to reject you before they meet you. Lastly, Don't refer to yourself as a 'Jr.' cinematographer. You clearly are one by looking at your reel, so don't sell yourself short. You are a cinematographer, period. Best of luck!
