Diffusion in front of parabolic ref

Depends on the density of the diffusion really, if it's taking all of the shape out of the beam, then they're spending WAY too much on hiring a soft light. If it's a lighter grade of fabric that still lets some shape through, but just takes the edge off the shadows, then that would seem a valid choice.

Maybe they just needed another soft source, and the Para 177 was closest to hand.

This is so often the case.

"You idiot! Why are you using [device] to perform [task] with such inordinate inefficiency?!"

"Because we have one."

Once the light is going through a frame, it really doesn't matter what unit it came from. Using the Para might be hugely inefficient, but if it happens to be there, and it achieves what you want, then why not? People do bookights all the time too, despite them being a massive waste of energy.

If it's getting used that way all the time, then it's a different story
