capturing progressive with XL1

hi,

I´ve shoot 12 hours footage with panasonic at 25p.

I´ve been ofered an old xl1 to use as the capturing device. I know it reads the tapes i have, but, does it read it progressive way or is it an interlaced reading?

If i set FC4 to progressive capturing it does capture in progressive, but i´m afraid the camera might be giving an interlaced reading that FC4 is making progressive again.

Thoughts will be helpful,
