I wanted to start a thread about commercials that I love and I use as an inspiration so here we go!

Black Opium - Directed by Harmony Korine / Cinematography by Arnaud Poitier

Under Armour - Directed by Aoife McCardle / Cinematography by Steve Annis

Vintersaga - Directed by Gustav Johansson / Cinematography by Niklas Johansson

H&M - Autumn 2016 (I like how it was directed)

There's actually a minute or two minute version of this, and it took me forever to find it. That, and it doesn't have all the shots that impressed me with the earlier version;

*major edit, I found the right video*

This may sound naive, stupid, vapid, and otherwise ill-informed, especially from a grip/AD who quit over 15 years ago, but if I were to shoot a feature, I would want to experiment with this level of color saturation. There's just something about this kind of look that I think could translate to genres other than promotional spots.

No response, whatever. Here's another Hawaiian Airlines montage with lots of clear shots with lots of detail and vivid colors. I'm not really interested in Hawaii or any of the islands as such, but I really do like the technique used here to capture these images.

I just found this one and I think that it is a story beautifully told.

Sveriges Radio – Decisive Moments

Director: Philippe Tempelman

Cinematographer: Pat Scola

I love the rhythm, the way that everything cuts together very well and the aspect ratio they decided to shoot on.

Have a lovely day!

I keep referring people to this, from the late 90s. Apologies for the terrible technical quality; it's the best version I can find, and it was almost certainly only ever finished in standard def to begin with.

(Correction - it went out in cinemas, so presumably it was done in at least HD.)

People keep saying "it'd never fly in the USA, it doesn't show the product!"

Which it doesn't.

The piece is simply called "Rocket" and was released in 1996 having been produced for Ogilvy and Mather; I can't find out who directed it.
