200' Bolex REX

OK... what to do with, yet another white elephant. It's a modified REX 1 with 200' foot load capacity. I got this long ago... works great... but was thinking of making it available. Either like it is or converting it to super 16mm or something.

Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Arthur!

Quite extraordinary. Was it actually made by Bolex ? The 200ft spool method is great as it's easy to load in 'daylight' and opens the way for longer shooting. It also looks quite a compact design on your Bolex, so I wonder why it didn't take off.

I wonder if anyone went the other way, ie. sawing off and converting a Bolex to 50ft :D

Probably impossible... maybe it could be done to a Beaulieu.

Had to look up my calendar whether we have April, 1st.

It’s a REX 2 from between 1958 and 1963. The spool shafts would need to have a new location and drive spring.

A white giraffe to me. The best thing Paillard ever did to the H-16 was to give it a big base for a good stand. Can

you put this model on a tripod? Not so well, I think.

I think it looks really cool and it is problably fine when mounted on the right kind of tripod which would perhaps be harder to find now but all the same...

Really nice find. Thanks for sharing. :)
