rob spence
Is that possible, can't find anything on the web so I'm presuming it can't be done?
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted August 3, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted August 3, 2017 ffmpeg can reportedly produce XAVC-compatible files (it's just a subset of h.264.) I found: # 4K XAVC-I Class 480 ffmpeg -guess_layout_max 0 -i "(input)" -r (framerate) -c:v libx264 -me_method tesa -subq 9 -partitions all -direct-pred auto -psy 0 -b:v 480M -bufsize 480M -level 5.1 -g 0 -keyint_min 0 -x264opts filler -x264opts colorprim=bt709 -x264opts transfer=bt709 -x264opts colormatrix=bt709 -x264opts force-cfr -preset superfast -tune fastdecode -c:a pcm_s24le "(output).mxf"
rob spence
Thanks Phil, trouble is I'm not so keen to try development software nowerdays...for fear of upsetting my computer. I'll tell the client he can't have xavc instead.! Must have that coffee soon.
Premium Member Mark Kenfield Posted August 3, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted August 3, 2017 The only thing that I can think of that might be capable would be Sony's Catalyst software. I haven't used it for a while though, so can't remember if it'll take you from Prores to XAVC.
Robin R Probyn
Had a quick look at the free Cat browse, that I use just for viewing XAVC footage.. doesn't look like you can import Prores to it though.. the pay Cat Prepare might.. Sign of the times.. client actually wants XAVC and not Pro res... thanks Fs7..! at last :)
Max Field
If quicker workarounds fail, I know for a fact Sony Vegas Pro can take ProRes and Render to Sony XAVC. Also is this page stretched way out for anyone else? Edited August 3, 2017 by Macks Fiiod
