Hello All,

I wonder if anyone can tell me if it's easy to fix the footage counter on a regular Arri SR-2 magazine.

This is the small rotary counter on the take up side ( ...not the feed side / arm roller gauge ).

I'm guessing there's a belt between it and the plastic mag-to-camera drive gear.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Many thanks,

John S :(

How easy it is to fix depends on what's wrong! Yes a spring belt runs from the drive shaft to the counter worm gear. You can access the area by removing the plate with pressure plate (2 larger screws at top right and bottom left) and the small cover plate under the counter (2 screws).

Nice one Diamond Dom !

I discovered the worm was a little sticky so ( very lightly ) touched it with some oil and that freed it up nicely.

Thanks very much for your expert advice - it's very much appreciated

Best wishes,

John S

I looked at this photo and solved the problem a bit. Thank you so much.
I cleaned it with IPA, and now the counter works. I haven't applied oil yet.

However, I touched some screws inside the magazine, and suddenly the film wouldn't go in. So, I loosened the screw just below the gear (the top one in the photo), and now the film goes in again.

What exactly does that screw do? And how tight should it normally be? I am worried that I might have broken the magazine.
