Creating strong shadows

Hello All,

 

I am quite new to the film world, I'm self taught and have had little time in a studio environment. I have mostly been asked to shoot with natural lighting, but I have recently been asked to do a fashion film on a very small budget, in studio. I am a little nervous as to how to go about this particular lighting set up.

 

I have attached the image references I have been given.

 

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

You need a strong, sharp fixture like a fresnel, bright enough that it can be at some distance at full flood and still give you the stop you want. If you are shooting motion on an Alexa or Red, maybe a 2K or 5K tungsten fresnel, on a strong enough stand to get above head level if you want this sort of angle to the light, which is like a high sunlight effect.

I should have mentioned I am also shooting on a DSLR Canon 5D Mark iii. I know this is far from ideal but as there is limited budget, I can only use the camera gear I own.

 

Do you still think just a Tungsten fresnel could work?

You need a hard light from a small source and the talent been close to the walls, so the lighting edges looks sharp.
