Slight gap between lens and mattbox ring?

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a Zeiss LWZ2 which is a 114mm front and I have an Arri MB18 which comes with a filter ring with rubber donut that says it has a 114mm diameter. However there is the slightest gap between the ring and the lens. Here is a photo:

Is this normal? I would be concerned about a little bit of light getting in there. Any suggestions?

looks like the filter ring is missing a ring which sits on the inside of the rubber

like this, with the text printed on it - http://www.photocineshop.com/library/K2-47190-0-01-J0KL.jpg

otherwise yes, you wil have light leaks that will bounce off your filters and into the lens

Whilst youre waiting you can just use/make a neoprene donut to prevent any light coming through the gap. We often use them ever when we do have the correct sized rings as it can make life easier.

Interesting, that's worth a shot in the meantime. Would I get it from the craft store do you think?
