Chris Peters
I just got a Kern Switar 16mm RX lens. When I turn the focus ring it binds in one particular spot, right around the 9 inch mark to the 1 ft mark. It's not enough to impact functionality, I can easily turn through it, but it does bug me. Any suggestions? Where do people go to look at their Kern Switar lenses?
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted November 22, 2020 Premium Member Share Posted November 22, 2020 I fix a lot of these lenses for people in Oz. Binding in one spot on a Kern lens is usually caused by a high spot in the key way fouling against the mount as it slides through. I don’t know who to recommend in the States for Kern lens service, but probably someone who works on Bolex products rather than a general lens service company. Maybe Procam (Bolex USA) or Jean-Louis Seguin or Visual Products or Bernie from Super16inc? Hopefully someone more local might chime in.
Chris Peters
I think ProCam can do it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Edited November 22, 2020 by Chris Peters
