Donald Riley
I recently bought an Arriflex 2C and noticed something was missing inside the door. I have three pictures below. Pic 1: This is from a YouTube video. There’s a part in the blue square that my camera doesn’t have. Pic 2: My camera. Pic 3: This is from a manual. There’s no part there, but a plate is screwed in there. Does anyone know what this part is and what it does and why it’s not in every Arri 2C? Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted May 31, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted May 31, 2021 It's a buckle switch, when tripped it shuts off the camera. It gets tripped if the lower loop gets too small, usually because of a film jam or when the film runs out. You'll find them in many film cameras, including the contemporaneous Arriflex16S, but I believe it was an optional extra on 2Cs, probably recommended for cameras that would be used in blimps where you couldn't hear a jam. I'm not sure why it didn't just come standard.
