Mike Flynn
Title pretty much says it all. Can you use the same coax for standard def and high def? Edited June 29, 2021 by Mike Flynn rampant retardation
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted June 29, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted June 29, 2021 Theoretically no, practically yes. Don't rely on it over long distances or for mission-critical stuff. Use it to feed a monitor, not to feed a transmission picture to a truck (though you likely wouldn't be doing that anyway). Test thoroughly by uncoiling the cable, coiling it up, bending it around, walking on it, and so on. The problems are caused by the capacitance, impedance and insertion loss of the cable, which are all poorer on more basic (older) cable designs. Have someone with good eyes looking at a big monitor. If it works, it works.
