Seth Baldwin Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 (edited) Been experimenting with preflashing, I've had no issues manually preflashing by exposing a gray card prior to shooting a scene, however it certainly takes up unwanted time prepping each can. I don't have any first hand experience renting an Arri Varicon or Panaflasher but it looks like a massive time saver. Are there any similar products to the Varicon and Panaflasher on the market that an individual can purchase? I've had so little luck finding anything that i'm considering trying to make my own. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted October 30, 2021 Premium Member Posted October 30, 2021 Original Panaflasher only works on a Panaflex body. I vaguely recall Panavision recently making a little version of the Varicon with colored LEDs to glow the glass... (I guess that's what is called the Panaflasher 3).
Premium Member Cole Cyccone Posted November 25 Premium Member Posted November 25 The Cinelux Luxcon is a modern version of these flashers. You can fine tune everything from an app and it only takes up a single stage in your mattebox. Not very expensive either. https://www.cineluxcinematools.com/
