Tips for moving to Vancouver

Hello together!

I will be moving from Berlin, Germany to Vancouver, British Columbia for one year next year (April/May). I studied Cinematography in Germany and worked for two years in a very good Camera Rental.

Are there any people here who have tips on where to go or who to contact if you want to get a foothold in the film industry in Vancouver? I know I don't want to work in rental for now, but rather gain experience as 2nd AC, 1st or in the lighting department.
If anyone has also taken this step or has contacts in the film scene in Vancouver, I would be very grateful for information.

A field report would also help me. What do I have to consider and who is the best person to contact? These are all questions I ask myself and I hope the community can answer them.

Can't help with contacts. But for moving, try City-Data  Forum. It is a good forum to ask questions about cities.

I'd caution you about being careful discussing political topics there. They banned me. In the past I found that forum very useful for working in NJ &  NYC. And it is not that they don't like politics, but the politics must mesh with their worldview.
