Lewis Hart
Shot a bunch of content in Mexico for a music video, on the first night several of the clips where shot in 50p, was meant to be 60, to drop them into a 24p timeline alongside my 24p super 8 footage. is there any way to convert the 50p footage to 24p so I can keep the lip sync in the performance shots in time? conforming the 50 to 24 just leads to it being slowed down, which then I can't use. any ideas? Robin Phillips
are you trying to keep the 50p stuff as "high frame rate"? or are you wanting to strip the extra frames out and turn it into 24fps material that plays back at 24fps? I know in resolve you can set a master frame base (say 48) yet if you bring in 24 fps into the same timeline it will run the 24fps material normally if you dont modify it (basically it will play each frame of the 24fps material twice). So you could try doing a 50fps timeline if you're using resolve, throw the 24fps stuff in, and see how it plays. Regardless you may have to do some strategic retiming of clips to get it to sync up. Alissa Alexina
Normally for music videos, to have the slo-mo effect while keeping the performance lip sync, you need to film the performers singing to a sped-up music track. The best way is to prepare the sped-up track in advance in your editing software to the desired factor (2x, 2.5x etc). Then after shooting you simply conform the 50p or other slow-mo video to the 24p timeline.
