RCU-1 Not working - Any thoughts?

Hi Everyone!

I just bought an RCU-1 for my SR3 and when I plug it in, the red light appears but no numbers or controls show up. I purchased a 50ft cable separately so maybe it's a cable issue? Maybe I'm using it incorrectly?

The camera needs to be set to the PS/CCU mode, the small switch under the display.

Have you tried paging through the mode while it is connected? There should be a display for SU which is for when the external speed control is connected. 

If you hit the phase or run button on the RCU does the camera respond? When set to CAM mode the RCU should just act as a normal external display. In RCU mode it will override any changes made on the body itself.

If it still isn’t working the most obvious cause would be the cable .. and 50ft is very long. 

If you can test the unit with another cable you could rule that out. Perhaps there is a rental house near you that still rents out SR3s?

Thanks for the replies.

Camera doesn't respond when I hit phase or run. I'm going to test the cable at a rental house today.

Dumb question - is this the type of cable I could have built by someone? I imagine tracking them down now is not easy...
