Marshall Deutelbaum
My question regards checking CinemaScope composition during the 1950s before any reflex camera was available. In addition to the matte ribbons in a side finder for framing, was it possible to mark a guide for composition within the frame on the side finder's ground glass? If so, was this common practice? I look froward to replies and very much appreciate any information you can offer. Marshall Deutelbaum
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted April 9, 2022 Premium Member Share Posted April 9, 2022 Never heard of people marking a groundglass for compostional aids except for visual effects work perhaps -- keep in mind that a groundglass is tiny. A camera operator's guides for framing are objects in the frame.
