The Delta was the only camera in that list which was actually abandoned.

The rest were actually manufactured in some quantities. The F900 being the most popular HD camera for several years and D21 ushering in Arri's Alexa. The AJA Cion had a horrible imager, thus it was not a successful camera, but yes sold in quantities.

I thought that abandoned was the wrong title for the series, having seen one or two cameras flagged as future videos. I've used the F900 and it was around for many years, although the Penelope Delta did fall into the category.

Perhaps they also mean abandoned in the sense of no longer used or abandoned by the industry and/or the manufacturer.

Regarding the F900, the video centres around its use with Panavision lenses on the Star Wars film. BTW I've used the later Panavision F900 that they rented out, it's a heavy camera with its customized body and Panavision zoom.

This camera for sure belongs on the list.

However, I do think it's vaporware. They made a prototype that looked decent on the outside and realized it would cost 10X the amount to actually manufacture them, so they filed for bankruptcy. It's happened so many times to manufacturing companies and it's sad. But yes, the Fran 8k 100% fits the series of videos.

Ohh and where is the video about the Dalsa?

In this video, Marc states, that they were working on the Valencia (Arriflex 435 HS) until around fall 2008, when they stopped it. There is only the plastic model and an actual working prototype of it.

In the German version he goes into a little more detail. He says, that during that time (financial crisis, potential SAG strike, no more film shoots), the rental houses didn't want to buy film cameras since they were afraid that they couldn't earn their money back. They even cancelled their orders. Arri didn't have any orders and couldn't sell their cameras, so they had to cancel project Valencia, which was one of Marc's favorite projects, on which they had worked on for a long time.

Yea, Andree told me he heard about it, I think it was 250-300fps?  But I believe it wasn't reliable enough.
