Adapter for Sony-E or Canon EF Lens to Arri S (or B) Camera Mount?

Recommended Posts

As per the title, does anyone know where one of these might be obtained? Covering either 16mm or 35mm Arri camera apertures is of interest.

The reverse, adapters for Arri S lens to modern digital cine camera (Sony-E, EF, PL etc.) are easy to find, but I haven't been able to find anything that goes in the other direction.

This is a bit surprising, since there must still be a lot of us using Arri film cameras with pre-PL mounts.

thanks and best regards, Craig

When you can find lots of adapters in one direction, and none in the other, it usually means there's a substantial difference in the FFD (flange focal distance) between the two mounts.  You can add distance from a lens easily enough with an adapter, but subtracting it gets quite a bit trickier, especially when the mount hole sizes are very different.  Hard to get a big EF lens, with an FFD of 44mm that distance away from the film plane of an Arri-S mount camera, whose much smaller diameter flange sits 52mm away.
