Premium Member Uli Meyer Posted February 8, 2023 Premium Member Posted February 8, 2023 I've got a Zeiss Standard Speed 24mm Super 35mm format Mk2. The aperture ring is too easy to turn, it has almost no friction. Is this a job for a lens technician? what needs to be done? Any advice welcome, thank you! IMG_3707.MOV
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted February 9, 2023 Premium Member Posted February 9, 2023 Hi Uli, Sounds like the aperture ring threads need lubricating with the right grease. But to access that part of the lens you have to come all the way from the back, which requires full disassembly of the focus helical. While not particularly difficult, it does require knowledge of how to mark and measure the helical spacing and thread starts for re-assembly, and then a collimator or projector for checking. Chances are the focus helical could do with a relube too while it's open. I'd strongly recommend giving it to a professional.
Mark Dunn Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 For my own use I'd be awfully tempted to use a bit of camera or electrical tape. Unless it's being sold on.
