Need Help Identifying this Arri Standard Rear Anamorphic

Recommended Posts

As the title says, I have this arri standard mount rear anamorphic that I originally thought was the Universal Angenieux/Cooke mount. However, after spending a bunch on a Angenieux 25-250, I realized that it does not fit that kind of screw on mount - there isnt enough receiver space for the thread to catch, if that makes sense. The side that connects to the lens has two threads, which using calipers, measure roughly at 46/47mm for smaller threads and 57mm for outside threads.

If anyone knows what this might be, Id be greatly in your debt. I have been trying to figure this out for a year now lol. Please help!

Also I can provide answers to any spatial dimensions of the lens..

Super interesting. I feel like there’s probably next to 0 information about this on the internet, maybe contact Visual Products, Alan Gordon, or Duclos lenses, they may have a good idea. There are a large amount of rear-adapted zoom lenses from over the years, I’d guess it’s from something other than Cooke or Angenieux.

It worth remembering that Arri Standard mount was superseded by the Bayonet mount in 1965, so this adapter would have probably been made for zooms made before then. Is your 25-250 Angenieux a MkI because any other version would be later than that.

Usually an anamorphic rear adapter would have a key way or slot in the mount base for orientation..

Im not entirely sure how to be certain, but it fits the description listed here:

https://www.handheldfilms.com/cameras-lenses/lenses/angenieux-25-250mm-mki/

And here is a picture of my copy, and another of what happens when I try to connect it to the rear adapter:

As you can see, it butts up against the lens and doesnt even come close to threading.

It might also be for a Century Optics universal mount, which I believe was different than the Cooke/Angenieux universal mount.

Im not seeing much on google about these, but they are hard to search - is this what you mean?

Dom - Also, I added a pic of a notch the adapter has on the thread side.

Thanks for the replies btw, Im lost on this one
