Not sure about the EXR, but all the Ektachromes bar the 100D are VNF; the process was discontinued in 2003, the '50 is in 90s plastic boxes and the ones in cardboard (the can is inside) are pushing 50 years old. Not a good buy to put in a camera.

I'd like to see completed auction prices, personally. Like this:

Yes, agree. But that is a project for you or someone else to do. I work in hundreds of areas of collection and am only 1 person, so I am limited with the amount of time I can spend on any single project.

Although I was born and raised on film, I'm all digital now. So, the amount of time I invested in the project was what I wanted to spend on it. To follow a giant group of auctions individually is a lot of work. Since many people on the forum are international, you would have to survey eBay worldwide as well to do it justice. That is even more work.

How does using expired motion picture film compare with photographic film?.....I use expired Kodak Portra (as an example) from 2012 without any problems....I don't even add another stop as I shoot as normal....

Back in the day, way back, Freestyle specialized in repackaging expired motion picture film for still photography and bulk loading uses. A lot of their stuff was from old military surplus or Hollywood left over stock. Freestyle's repacked cine' film was always subpar when compared to fresh Kodak still stock. But when you are a broke kid, you buy some of the $1.69 100-foot rolls and load some .10 cent 35mm cassettes up in the closet to be able to shoot 'something.'

Later on, when you would get more $, you can afford to buy 100-foot rolls of fresh name brand Kodak or Ilford stock for $7.50 at Pan Pacific Camera, which was the Sammy's Camera of its day. And when the day comes that you acquire a changing bag and don't need your mom's closet, that is a big deal. Just as it is when you move out of your mom's bathroom into a real darkroom.

When you buy expired or even 'in date' stock off eBay you are taking the chance it has been stored OK and has not been though too many X-ray machines while traveling. If you can buy stock from the same source, same production number and have tested it, it may be OK. But generally speaking, I wouldn't do it. Not for the $ it cost and time wasted if it turns out bad. I'm only interested in expired or second hand film out of curiosity and for archival purposes.
