  1. No question it should be German, no dub, subtitles.
  2. I knew I shouldn't have started this....
  3. If I had a £ for every time I've said blue screen this week......
  4. Hi Phil. This is all pretty rhetorical as until we find the set ups I have no idea if the screen area needs to be 15x8 or 30x20 or 8x6. The easy way is to blue screen it and drop in the plates but I'm investigating their proposal.... This is the suggested unit, but with a suggested screen max of 8x6 (no doubt in ideal, subdued light conditions) I've no doubt we'll be ******* in the ocean http://www.eventprojection.co.uk/productdetail.cfm?ID=76&product=Sanyo-XP41 Though this looks more like it..... http://www.eventprojection.co.uk/productdetail.cfm?ID=88&product=Christie-Roadster-HD18K
  5. I have a scene to shoot car interior day The car (a Hummer enlarged x 1.5) will be a mock up in the studio Production want to project the BG plates on to screens using digital projectors with 3300 lumens. As the screen area required is an unknown, I'm seeking advice on a more powerful system. there will also be ambient light scatter from the lamps lighting the car interior (from outside)which will knock the screen level down to......zero probably Any suggestions please And please dont anybody say blue/green screen.......
  6. Ask Stillking, good facility company. www.stillking.com Vantage are in Prague, though predominately film I'd be surprised if they cant help you. www.vantagefilm.com
  7. Sounds like pretty much anywhere else then..... LOL Thanks Dominic.
  8. Hi Dominic Specifics to be confirmed but ita a car shoot, Bonnet rig, door rig, Move n Shoot rig....probably Frankfurt. Obviously Police would be consulted, permits obtained, traffic control in place and roads closed where possible and necessary. Its a full on high end car shoot, not a student short film. The nameless facility company seem to be implying that nothing can be mounted on the car. I sure its a misunderstanding, but its one that could see the job relocating so seeking a definitive answer.
  9. Long time since I've shot cars in Germany, but I've been advised that its no longer possible to mount a camera anywhere on a picture car and drive that car on a public road, even if that road is policed and production has traffic control. The camera must ALWAYS be mounted on a separate vehicle. I find this hard to believe, can anyone confirm or counter this advice please? Thanks
  10. I've only just seen this. Very sad but what a character. Way ahead of his time, very brave man IMO. Derek lived on the edge in more than one sense and was a real talent. As David said his lack of credits is a shame as he had the ability to be one of the greats. I'll raise a glass to you Derek.....
  11. I'm going to be using the camera on a Technocrane and a stabilised scorpio head. Is there any way to operate the on/off remotely? Thanks
  12. I'd speak to the sound dept and SFX crew..... even the high end units can cause all sorts of problems. They can be good for ordering local cabs though :)
  13. Commercials rate for UK is £1077 for 10
  14. And I'm probably the only one who thought Hurt Locker was, at best, ordinary.
  15. Thanks Olex, I've used it the Russian arm.
  16. Thanks I've worked with that rig and cannot recommend those guys highly enough, but we need a 360 MoCo ideally
  17. It will be moving. Ideally we'll jib of course, the odd bump and jolt |I think we can accommodate by shooting slightly wider that required and stabilising. If it were not for the jib I think it would be relatively simple to motorise the lateral arm movement.
  18. Anyone know of a rig, preferably Euro based, that can 360 a moving car but be motion controlled? Thanks
  19. Not only will labs in the UK process it they'll load the stuff as well (as will kodak) Never had a problem with this though not needed to do it for some years now........ Can't you tag it onto a job? I think you'll find Kodak and the labs are quite helpful at the moment
  20. Agree with all but the last paragraph Extremely predictable, message was about as subtle as a hammer to the head and an hour too long. There were 12 people in the cinema, 3 with me......
  21. Thanks Kevin.... managed to find a copy in one of those little bookshops off St Martins lane just before xmas Didn't know about the website though, thanks for that.....
  22. So Vincent didn't make an elementary mistake? The problems he causes himself are of his own making and I would expect him to bite the bullet and deal with it. But to say that actors had to wait 30 seconds before being given the go is at the very least inconsiderate and I would argue unprofessional. Quite why it fell on Vincent to provide the film stock I cant imagine, but having done so he'd made the choice, so to then let that decision impact on others and carp on about it seems a little churlish. Instead of asking "do you insist on a monitor when shooting film in daylight" perhaps Vincent should have just requested the tools for the job. If the producer cant or wont provide them then fair enough, you get around the problems, but this was Vincents choice.
