  2. ///PLEASE APOLOGIZE THE DOUBLE POSTING HERE AND ON THE LOS ANGELES REGIONAL BOARD/// Dear friends, I am a 2nd year cinematography fellow at the American Film Institute. Tomorrow at 9Am I am supposed to shoot some tests at Panavision Woodland Hills. Due to some communication errors I don't have the film stock I need to test. So my question: Does anyone around here has about 200ft or more of Kodak Vision 3 5207 laying around? I would be able to pick the stock up between NOW and 8AM tomorrow morning. I would replace the donated short end by Friday! Please let me know if there is someone who can help me out, I'd hate to stand there tomorrow with a set of anamorphics and no film stock. You can call and email me anytime: 323.580.3215 jasper.granderath@gmail.com Thanks in advance! Best, Jasper

  4. Hey Sophia, i've tried a quick research and hope it will help you. Frank Schwaiger is credited as assistant cameraman on imdb.com for Goodbye Lenin. You can find his contact details on his hp. http://www.licht-gestalten.biz/kontakt.htm Try to ask him. Maybe he remembers or he can give you a good advice who you should ask. All the best, Jasper
  5. Hi anyone, has anyone around here used S16 lenses made by Optica Elite (www.optica-elite.com - Elite S16 MKIV) or Optarillumina (www.optarillumina.com - S16 Ultra Prime Lenses). Are they comparable to the ULTRA16 lenses by Zeiss? Has anyone shot resolution-, color fidelity-, distortion- and sharpness-tests with them? Would be great to hear something about these lenses. Many thanks in advance. Kind regards, Jasper Granderath
  6. Hi guys, I'm a student from Switzerland and I will light a film there soon. In this film there is a young woman who is processing photographic film in her own little refuge in her parent's garden. i would like to go in the direction of these often seen red casted ight. i want to simulate her practicals she is using there. has anyone an idea, which gels and/or lamp characteristics i can use to get this look? Another question: For another scene, there should the rain, that is running down the windows. I want to make the rain visible as smooth changing light/shadow-structure on the actors faces and on the walls. How can i achieve this effect? I'm very thankful for any input! Best, Jasper Granderath Zurich
  7. Hey guys, i'm shooting a short with the HVX200 (probably 1080i), the Movietube ST and a set of Zeiss S35mm MK IIs next time. Right now i'm especially interested in stuff like field reports about the Movietube. Where can i expect problems? What do i have to worry about the most? I'm familiar with the HVX. I'm thankful for any information, any hint. Best, Jasper Granderath ZURICH
  8. perhaps because i'm using fc pro 5.1.4 how to log/convert the mxf files in this fc pro version? thanks for helping! best, jasper
  9. Hi all, i've my first hvx200 footage recorded. i've put it to my external hd with panasonics p2 content management software. but i can't find out how to convert the mxf files into fc pro compatible mov files. from now on i will import my footage directly into fc pro via the "import p2 panasonic" function. can anyone please help me out? thanks a lot.
  10. Hi Michael, hi João! Thank you for these informations. I will keep them in my mind while shooting. Unfortunately i will get the cam not before tomorrow in the evening and i have to start the short on sunday morning. But i've read a lot here and on other places in the www, so i feel a little prepared for the cam. the only thing i'm not shure about is the shutter speed. i will use the 720 25PN mode and don't really know which shutter speed to use for a good looking picture with panning... hopefully i have the time to test different speeds tomorrow in the evening! best, Jasper
  11. Hey guys, i'm starting to shoot with the HVX200 in a few days and would like to know how i should adjust my light-meter at 720pN with 25fps? I read somewhere sth about a sensitivity of 100 ASA, this can't be true, or? I've expected sth around 250 ASA. And because of the "true" progressive mode it should be ok to measure at 25fps, right? How you would describe the Latitude of the HVX200? Are 2 stops over and under ok? Is even more possible? Would you recommend to overexpose 2/3 stop? Thanks for helping! Best, Jasper Zurich
  12. I'll shoot a short with the HVX200 in a week and still don't know how i will capture the P2 cards onto my MacbookPro (Intel DualCore 2,33Ghz). It is equipped with the express card slot and i am not shure what to do? Should i work with the Adapter made by Duel Systems (Is there any other manufacturer?) or should i use the 60GB Store from Panasonic. Or is there one more possibility i'm not aware of? I will capture to two 500GB external hard drives. Best, Jasper
  13. Do you find what you are looking for on one of these pages? http://www.duel-systemsadapters.com/support/downloads.cfm https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/sup...ad.htm#p2driver Regards, Jasper Granderath
  14. Hi Michael, thanks for your reply. That was the reply i was hoping for. Cheers, Jasper
  15. Hey folks, i will shoot a short in two weeks with the HVX200. I would like to record my shots on two 16GB P2 Cards, that i can get for free. As a rebate. Now i've heard several times that the first HVXs Panasonic sold, are not able to handle with the 16GB Cards. So my questions: Is this true? Had anyone here problems with these cards? Is it true that this problem is easy to solve with a firmware update for the HVX? Thanks for helping me. Cheers, Jasper
  16. I've read about the HMI topic there. But what kind of problems can occur? Did anyone had problems with HMI and high speed? The HMIs are coming from my school, so they are for free. Tungsten lights with more than 5kW we would have to rent. That's the reason for using HMIs.
  17. Hi, i'll be the gaffer at a high speed shooting next week and never did it before. So i got some questions about the light units i will need. We don't have a great budget because all the money went in renting the camera. The camera has a latitude of something like 3 stops. Our light units so far look like this: 1x 4kW HMI PAR, 1x 2,5kW HMI PAR, 1x 1,2kW HMI PAR, 2x 200W HMI Fresnel, 3-4 4B4F KinoFlo. I think we will have the opportunity to get real close to our to-be-filmed-objects with the units The shooting will be done at some 100fps shots and 2-3 500fps shots. These 500fps shots will be nearly close ups, so i don't have the problem to light up the whole bar in which the shooting takes place. I've heared about problems using HMI at High Speed. Is that true? What kind of problems i should expect. We are shooting in Switzerland at 50Hz so 500fps should work, or am i wrong? Any other hints or thoughts? Would these be enough units to do the job. Thank you! Kind regards, Jasper Granderath Zurich
  18. Hi David, Thanks a lot. It worked fine. btw: Roberto Schaefer is represented now by Endeavor. Jasper Granderath Zurich
  19. Hello David/Mr. Mullen, thank you for this information. I'm on a set these days, but i will call his agents as soon as possible. Cheers, Jasper Granderath Zurich
  20. Hey guys, thanks for all the useful inputs. It helped me a lot. And Tim, your point about footcandles is quite interesting towards me. Until now i've spend much too less attention on measuring/understanding footcandles. I wanna change this. And another point: Shooting with the HVX200 makes measuring on 25 fps (PAL) possible, but shooting with the Canon XH A1 in the 25F mode recommends measuring a shutter of a 1/50 second, right? As far as I know, the Canon records interlaced and creates a fake of a deinterlaced picture... Thanks a lot! Jasper Granderath Zurich
  21. Hi again, I've tried it over different cml lists. With no result. Any hints what to do? Gracias. Jasper Granderath Zurich
  22. Hello, i'll do a lighting job in the naxt days and the Panasonic HVX200 will be used. I own a Sekonic L-758Cine lightmeter and need help for the camera exposure profiling. It seems that i won't be able to do the exposure profiling with the camera at my side. So, what ISO sensitivity, compensation value, clipping point adjustment, dynamic range setting and clipping point setting can you recommend? I need some guiding values and know that a ultra-precise adjustment is not possible this way, or am I wrong? Any help appreciated. Thank you! Jasper Granderath Zurich
  23. Thanks for your help. I'll try it this way. Best, Jasper
  24. Hey fellas, i want to get in contact with Roberto Schaefer, the DP of "STAY". I would like to ask him some questions about his work in "STAY". Does anyone know his agency or another chance to contact him? Thanks a lot. Regards, Jasper Granderath
  25. Hey folks. I've done a quick search about day for night shots in this forum, but didn't found a useful thread. But i'm sure there is one and that i've read already sth about that here. I have to know how to practice a day for night shot on a dv-cam like the Panasonic AG-DVX100 Ae. I will try to simulate moonlight in a large kitchen and have to do some outside shots too. Day for night will not work with appearing of the sky in the frame, right? I'm thankful for any advice. Jasper
