  1. Sorry if this is a repeated question, tried to search but came up empty. SO I am trying to get a nice laser beam spread like that of Alien, or even some of the shots in the Prometheus trailer. NOT the pin point style but the big wide scanning beams. We are shooting ALEXA. The tests I did with a couple dance club units gave me some bad flicker and rolling shutter issues. My question: Has anyone used any different units or had experience to overcome the rolling shutter? I would love a silky smooth flicker-less device if possible. BLUE and/or RED are ideal. Thanks!
  2. So I talked to Lightning Stikes and their Paparazzi units do not have any sync function to cameras. So its a crap shoot if you are lucky enough to time out the rolling shutter. I would rather use the Creamsource LEDs because they have the sync box controller so that this is not an issue. Does anyone know where you can rent these in LA? Any other options people can recommend would be awesome. The final goal is somewhere in the Black Swan or City of God look where it is strictly on/off strobing, no lag time, no other sources. Thanks.
  3. nice they did buy them! just saw it was added to their site.
  4. Interesting, my friend works there and said they were not going to buy them. Maybe Denny has changed his mind since I last had that conversation... Thanks Chris.
  5. Has anyone rented these lenses in the US? if so where?
  6. NEED to rent or buy Kessler Slider w/time lapse motor ASAP! Dont care what slider model, just need the 200 or 500 motor for timelapses. I am leaving the country and need to get a hold of one as soon as humanly possible in Los Angeles. Anyone know if I can rent one or buy one in town?
  7. Used Cinebags. 100 dollars each. Cash only. In Hollywood. Email me for questions or whatever. sean@in-perfidia.com
  8. Im a newbie as I just graduated school last year... but I won an ASC award for the short I did too... www.seanstiegemeier.com Also Ive seen a lot of people that have flash websites that use quicktimes (as I do) but still have that lame grey quicktime bar for the controls. There is a way to make that look like flash controls but still have it be a quicktime fyi.
  9. Is there an Intervalometer accessory option for the 235? Or do I have to stick with the 435 or 35-3 to do timelapse work? Thanks.
  10. So I looked into different things.... A Russian Arm would be ideal, but I cant seem to mount a 4C with 1000ft mag on it. Is there something like this that I am not aware of? I am shooting with a 4C for Hi Frame rate, so I cant really put it on a stedicam and strap him into a Golf Cart either.
  11. Do they have specific mount to attach a stedicam arm to anything like a golf cart/4 wheeler? or does the operator just hang out on the back and hope he gets something?
  12. Hello, this might have already been talked about before but I couldn't really find anything from searching. I am looking to do really fast camera moves. I want to be able to keep up if not go faster than somebody in full sprint. And I want the moves to be very fluid and seamless yet the terrain we are on is going to be pretty bumpy, open desert area. Are there rigs to go onto a jeep or something? 4-wheeler? Golf Cart? Any tips would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks Mike!!! The awards were amazing. I wore a top hat and turn of the century tux. Looked crazy.
  14. Nice good call. Its actually been harder than I thought, birns doesnt have em any more, neither does clairmont or otto. Alan should be able to set me up it seems. Thanks!
  15. Where in LA can I rent and old Arri-S!?!? I cant seem to find one to save my life. Anyone who has one or knows anyone or any place to rent one of these old war cameras please let me know. I have a music video Im shooting starting thursday with all kinds of mixed formats and cant find one of these.
  16. That would be great if you could sell one, Im near beverly and la brea in hollywood. I am going out on a job next week so it would be amazing if we could hook up this weekend if possible, heres my email so we can sort our more details... sean@in-perfidia.com, if they dont come back till next week I am still interested either way. Thanks
  17. I am looking to buy some used Kino Flo Lights. Either 2' x 4 tube banks or 4' x 4 tube banks. Looking for 2900K and 5600K bulbs also but not as important as the fixtures and ballasts. Thanks. sean@in-perfidia.com
  18. If you have film in your fridge, how long until there will be a noticable aging to the stock/grain/look/etc.? weeks/months/years? (particularly 5218 and 5217)
  19. So if I got the pole cats, do I need to rent anything else to attatch lights to them?
  20. First quick question, does it take very long to set up in telecine to have your film played at a different frame rate? (like 8fps for example) Second part is how fast of a frame rate can a telecine facility transfer at? I want to have a shot that has a speed ramp in it but I want it instantly (with the 435 it still takes a second or to to get up to speed). So what i plan on doing is shoot the shot a 96 fps or so, and then have the telecine house transfer it at 24fps AND 96fps if possible. Then when i want the ramp to happen I just cut it in editing where I want it to take place. Let me know if possible, and how fast can telecine houses transfer at please.
  21. So I have a semi-long steadicam shot running through a bar scene and I need to hang some lights from above so no equiptment will get in the shot. We arent using large heavy lights, but we are using a number of smaller ones (650's or smaller). I havent had too much experience with these types of set ups, so my question is what is the easiest way to get the lights mounted above? We are in a location that is really nice so we cant be doing any damage to the walls/ceilings. Any reccomendations?
  22. Just wanted some recomendatins on some great cinematography in the film noir genre, thanks.
  23. I was wondering what filter is best for a day shot from the top of a hill. I want to cut down the haze that appears from the altitude and the distance, so which filter(s) whould help out?
