  5. If anyone in here has seen the movie Belly, and has experience as a dp or experience lighting scenes you might be able to help me out here. I am looking for advice on how to replicate the opening scene when they enter the strip club and there are black lights in the club. Some hints on lighting it and stocks etc. Camera is an arri 435 I need to understand how to shoot with blacklights. How do you meter for them? How many do you use? Do you use key light as wel? Etc.

  7. I am a loader and DP smaller scale outdoor stuff in Hawaii. I am extremely eager to become a second AC and eventually a 1st and then DP. I want to become very familiar with both panavision and arri equipment so that I can attempt admission into the local 600 union to be an AC. I know a 1st who about 9 years ago took classes in vancouver that covered panavisiion gear It was at claremont in van when it first started up there. They were free courses designed to educate people on the equipment. I am looking for a course or courses that will teach me about the equipment. Preferabbly inexpensive or free courses. If anyone has any advice contact info etc I could really use it. I don't know where to begin looking and would be willing to travel to take advantage of any courses available. Cheers, Dave

  9. I am looking for a used sachtler vieo 20 fluid head. Anyone? D
  10. Thanks guys for the info. It helped a lot! Cheers
  11. Do not buy a beaulieu it is a terrible camera. Here's a few reasons why... battery dies fast even newer ones the electronics inside the camera suck the motor is weak the speeds are not accurate the viewfinder prism often seperates and will get foggy and people think oh you need to clean it but it is actually a 600 daollar prism that needs to be replaced.. The speeds change whenever they feel like it... I would never take this camera for a job. If you insist on buying one go to > > >www.beaulieucinema.com <http://www.beaulieucinema.com> his name is >guy... > > > > >he is my friend very cool and has the cleanest best beaulieu you can get > but i'll bet you he tells you it is a shiitty camera. Be wary of a camera for 400 dollars as you will get what you pay for. In your price range >for starting out I recommend an arriflex 16s or a bolex rex 5 or a bolex sbm. depending on whether you want to deal with a battery. Another advantage to a bolex is for 450 dollars > >you > > >can get a crystal sync motor that turns your bolex into a high end sync > > >speed camera. You can shoot music videos.. sync sound interviews... etc. > > > >It has speeds form 12 to 60 all hmi safe and crystal sync. An affordable > > > >way to have a camera almost as goot as the 20,000 arri sr II. Oh yeah... you can do timelapses with a bolex as well which you can't do with most cameras including an arri s. I have a Bolex rx5 for sale. Excellent condition for 1,400. A ton of lenses as well. If you have a lot of money get an arri srII. Or if you even righer get an srIII, or an aaton a-minima. I really do recommend a bolex not just because I am selling one. It is an excellent choice. D
  12. Assuming the lenses are in the same condition... which lens is better? The Cooke 25-250mm MKII T3.9 or..... The Angenieux 25-250 T3.7 HP
  13. Bolex Rex 5 Excellent condition $1,400 O.B.O Also selling an Angenieux 12-240 for $2,000 and an angeniux 5.9mm for $1,000

    Tripod

I am shooting with only a super 16mm bolex or arri s cam. Not that heavy. But I am shooting with a cooke 25-250 25mm lens. This lens is heavy. Can anyone reccomend a good fluid head that isn't super heavy or super expensive. I am shooting surfing mostly and need to haul the tripod up the beach. I need something extremely solid because I am using a doubler as well. Any ideas? Is bogen's heavy duty fluid head enough or do I drop 4 grand on somen big? D
  15. It's not that bad really. I have a 10-150 as well which is sharp when not wide open. I am selling an angenieux 12-240 in mint condition if you are interested. D
  16. Do you live in Hawaii? Do you shoot surf? I may know you... I am having the same problem . I had an angenieux 5.9 now have the kinoptic and yes it is big.. Z I have been told that the 10mm angeniux covers super but haven't tested it yet. Also when I look through thwe angenieux 5.9 it doesn't look like there is a prob but I need to shoot a roll. Everyne says it doesn't cover. Is this homcey?
  17. i have a friend who's intereasted how much do you want?
