  1. I also really enjoy the image in "Never Die Alone" My artsy film maker friends always make fun of me liking such movies.. but what they do not understand is i am not seeking intellect in the script (in such movies), i am seeking entertainment and intellect in film making.. one of the best exmple: Lost Souls not the best script, but one one of the best photographed motion picture ever in the human history.
  2. I love Bruno Delbonnel as much as I love Darius Khondji. (which means a lot) because Mr.Khondji's style is truly admirable. Great use of color palatte and much more.. And Mr.Delbonnel .. I'll say one word that will explain a lot : "amelie" I can not wait to see this new flick. PS: Audiris , do you have your reel laying online somewhere? You made me curious from our previous conversation on Bill Pope. Thanks
  3. same here : academy of art collage , sf teachers are allright and we have some remarkable students that only has the ability to ruin the equipment. :) counting days to go under the roof of AFI.
  4. i havent been able to find a stocking type that satisfied my needs .. i'm looking something along , janusz kaminski (most of his work) or Robert Richardson (kill bill) style .. any insight about it ? thank you , ps:please excuse my broken english too.
  5. corrected: Elliot Davis is actually very sensetive and caring towards the story/actors. (which i believe makes a dp even more creative) I remember watching behind the scenes for "I am Sam" There was a emotionally charged scene and mr.Lachman was handholding the camera.. and while he was shooting he started to shed tears.. i dont blame him . absulutely amazing scene. -- it was very late at night when i posted. i wwasnt thinking clear i assume. thanks for the correction david. :)
  6. heheh .. maybe %10 money back is more fair. does anyone know who coined that : martini shot or is it a mystery among other terms in film bussiness. i love this combination : "can you please put the baby on the stick"
  7. besides poorness .. its pretty impossible to get into . but i do want to be an AFI student too. going back to the topic .. i just wanted to tell you guys how a janusz nerd i am: i got saving private ryan dvd with his signature on it. dvd came without the dvd in it.. i called them up and asked what happened to the dvd.. rep. said " oh , mr. kaminski must have taken it. we'll send you the dvd" they never did. but its okay.. couz i have his signature. the ASC store is pretty shitty tough. Before C.Hall's death i've ordered American Beauty with his signature.. And soon after he , unfortunatelly passed away. They never sent me the dvd. They even charged my c.card .. i called them up .. they just gave my money back .. bastards .
  8. i dont know whats wrong with some people. its simply beatifully shot movie. is it jelousy ? or too much music video ? or something else, i dont know. but it seems like people here, didnt like the image. bill pope is who is, (a great hollywood cinematographer) and people who complain here are who they are. (trying to squize their ignorant vision in hollywood , but not quite succesful) i dont want to come across harsh , but you'll rott in your seat trying to cut your teeth with infomercials. by the way .. the last scene : go them them tiger. to me the source was the painted windows, type of thing. even if it wasnt, you really dont need to explain the source..
  9. i never said the skintones did not look plastic. i said they are handpicked strawberries.. the image was matte.. "plastic" in a beatiful way. it amazes me that how many people hates DI. I would cut my arm too shoot a feature and DI it in the end. barbie dolls are plastic too.. and they are "perfect"
  10. whaw. thank you . world is a better place because of people like you. the program is great..
  11. hey there .. you can take your two cents back :P :) just joking. first of all you dont need to motivate light all the times. second .. the orange kicker was motivated: it was the industrial orange harbor lights (the scene on the crane) and i have to disagree with the skin colors .. I liked them. You made it sound like DI is an automatic program that arranges the colors randomly. Lets say, if you shot something and cross processed it. then you say , i dont like the skin tones.. because of the contrast they are too pale .. But when you talk about tones and DI, it doesnt work that way. DI is the battleground for tones and colors. So , personally, i did like the skin tones. They are handpicked like fragile strawberries. You can go where ever you want with them .. and i liked the way they went.
  12. no , i agree . i love the film too. (soundtrack is great.. Jon Brion; he is the man)
