  1. Hey, we just finished this film a couple weeks ago. We spent a tottaly of about $500 on it, shot it in about 5days...Writer, Director, co-editor is 19, I DPed and Edited and im 18.... the trailer is up now, but the full film should be up in the coming days. Let me know what everyone thinks. If anyone has a good idea for a festival to enter let me know to. were trying to narrow down a list right now. www.TurkeydayMovie.com thanks! Jake.
  2. sorry---moderators I did not realize this was not for post production stuff, please feel free to delete this thread
  3. Hi, ok so yea i shot a project in squeeze on the dvx, basically just so I could edit in an anamorphic timeline and export out to true 16:9 easier. But by accident I shot one take in the letterbox mode (I use that to check composition cause I just hate looking at that squeezed frame). I can I integreate that clip into the timeline....I tried to just upsizing it, but there is a noticable diffrence in quality....which from a technical standpoint doesnt make sense since they are both the same resolution still......so yea, anyone know what to do here? thanks! -Jake
  4. haha, ok, im about to start production on a short film and we plan to rent an hvx to shoot. I have spent about the last 3days researching online trying to figure out exactly how to make this work....and well.....I havent found many deffinte answers on anything. My first question is about formats, we plan to shoot 720/24p. but I also saw there is a 720pn, why is there a pn, i thought 720p was true proggresive and therefore no pulldown would be neeeded so you could infact have 24true frames of video. I also heard there are some problems with horizantal lines in pn, we plan to submit this film to festivals and have it projected digitally, there are no plans of ever transfering to film so should i even bother with pn? also what format am I recording in with 720/24p is it dvcpro hd 50...are there options? continuing with the format issues.....how do i get this stuff on a computer.... Ok, the biggest thing ive been trying to find out is what version of final cut I need I have heard everything from 5.0 will work to you absolutly need 5.1 so im at a lose. Will 5.0 work? we have machines with 5.0, but 5.1 would be an issue for us. what is the best way to capture 720/24p footage (i know u can either ingest or capture)....capture presets? if its not dvcprohd 50 what is it....cause i know there is a dvcprohd 24p preset in final cut....even my version 4.5 has that. Any drivers to download to make this stuff work, software? Ok thats everything ahah, I know I asked a whole lot of stuff in there but if anyone can give me some deffinte answers on any of that I would greatlly appreciate it. Or if you could just explain to me how i should go about doing this best? Anything at all will help Thanks alot to anyone who takes the time to respond, I seriously greatly appreciate it....this has been one huge headache, AND WERE FILMING NEXT WEEK AHHHHHHH! ha. thanks again! -Jake Zalutsky
  5. sean lennon, obviously. sorry about the double post im just an idiot.
  6. ...well someone needs to reply....that was really really cool, I think the idea is amazing. shot very well. Wow. I will probably buy that. Whats the artist?
  7. I dont mean to be harsh, And let me make it known I am not one for typical music videos. Putting aside all dislike for the music and the artist. I thought that the concept of the video was very cliche and the way in which the video was done was very typical of any music video. Having chase seens in music videos alone I feel is very overdone, I cant count the number of tiems ive seen people running away or after things in music videos. I think the concept of someone chasing themselves is even worse....that theme has been played on so many times, people seeing themselves or w/e its just been done alot. The video doesnt really even go as far as to show why hes chasing himself and the ending I dont feel shows anything, why is he looking at himself on a tv? maybe all of this has roots in the song but I couldnt understand it. I also felt the way in which it was cut back and forth between the running and the band playing is boring, I think every music video ive seen on mtv in the last five years has been done this way and I really dont like it. I generally dont even like showing a band performing in music videos. As far as the camera work, I felt it was solid, there were some good shots in there, I didnt feel any of it was ground breaking but it looked good. The only thing i didnt like like was the look of it, i think high contrast can be cool but when your shooting digital I think the first concern should be latitude then do contrast in post. all of the blown out skies and blown highlights I didnt like.
  8. Thanks, sounds like i cant go wrong with either.
  9. I am interested in either of the zoom lenses if your willing to break up the package. assuming the 18-86 still is fully functional minus the inability to use a filter on it I would be very interested in taking that off your hands as I am on a tight budget. I will send you a pm with contact information. edit: I guess ur PM box is full. you can contact me at Jake@lookatrubbish.com
  10. Hi, I have read about the diffrence in these stocks 7245 being more contrasty and staurated but im looking to see how much of a diffrence there really is and see how 7245 holds up in telecine to digital. Is it too contrasty to get good detail in highlights/shadows. How much is the diffrence really between 7201 and 7245 Im looking for somewhat of a vivid image, deffinetly dont want it to be too flat but also dont want it too look like digital where you cant see a thing in the shadows or highlights. If anyone has stills or a comparison that would be great! thanks alot -Jake
  11. Thanks everyone! I didnt notice the "lex" that is partitally covered up, thats kinda a dead give away. and the swithc on the viewfinder. I cant wait to get it and start shooting 16!
  12. SLR.....you see through the lens from the viewfinder. non slr bolexs are pretty worthless compared to the reflex models/
  13. Link: http://www.super8camera-shop.com/shop/inde...6mm_cameras.htm I was sure this model was reflex after looking at various pictures and comparing, but why does it still have that viewfinder? someone also told me this as an explanation but im not sure if its correct: so is that a possibility? also I wasnt able to locate the serial anywhere, atleast the 151 part of it, if anyone know anything about that serial let me know please. any information anyone can give would be extermly useful thank you! -Jake
