  1. hey ken, that you for the comments. your blog is awesome. the exact content I would want to view from a filmmaker. I am gonna post some "on the set" photos of a feature film I was in called "Ace In The Hole" were I was 2nd 2nd AD. Will also subscribe to your blog. Gracias.
  2. Carlos Castaneda's - Art of Dreaming Translating such a lucid perspective would be an experience into the metaphysical. The Cinematics alone would be worth it. I always wanted to do an 3D animation of Edwin Abbott Abbott - Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions
  3. Speaking of duets Al Pacino & Robert De Niro in Heat, was brilliant. The cocky subtle attitude towards each other, was a film lovers dream come true.
  4. Sir Anthony Hopkins in both Titus & Silence of The Lambs. Few actors can actually morph into a role. Vincent Gallo in Buffalo 66 playing a disturbed man. well actually he is already a haunting artist Forest Whitaker in Ghost Dog David Thewlis in Naked Monica Bellucci in Irréversible Lauren Ambrose in Six Feet Under - Watching the role Claire evolve was amazing Min-sik Choi in Oldboy Gael García Bernal in The Motorcycle Diaries just a few of my single actor performances
  5. not securely making the knuckles on a mambo tight enough. got my thumb and index finger squished. its a gorgeous battle scar. Now its one of my hugest pet peeve, grips who don't tighten knuckles on c-stands, mambos etc.
  6. I recently started my own blog Dreaming @ 24fps http://www.dreamingat24fps.com as a visual journal on my efforts as a independent filmmaker. I wanted to set this blog apart from all other filmmaker blogs by adding behind the scene featurettes in HD for my process for producing my own personal projects which include Feature Films, Short Films, Music Videos and Documentaries. Now I mostly make my living in the film industry as a Grip and do DVD Authoring on the side. But now that I have finished writing a short film and feature film and confident enough to start working on my personal projects, I wanted to have a memoir. Would love the opinions of my fellow filmmakers. Gracias. Mr. Sifuentes El Gato Negro Films http://www.elgatonegrofilms.com
  7. its a tiny investment to buy a domain name and hosting service and finding a webdesigner to make a simple elegant layout. In this day in age its a must.
  8. for the longest time I had a paypal donation link on my site, it never worked for me thou but this looks like it might get some attension. wish you well!
  9. Well I for one could tell that some where along the line they all lost their commitment to the project. The acting was stale at best. Had no ounce of passion in the dialogue, considering you had some amazing actors.
  10. your eye is on a different level. engaging and stunning work. at times you enter into a different realm with your vision. few can attain it. awesome.
  11. Incubus is holding a contest for their new music video "DIG". All footage was done with a green screen. They have both Low Res (DV) and Hi Res (HD) Footage. Prepare for a long download HD file run 1GB each and DV 500mb. Wasn't sure if I should place this on the Director's Corner or Editor's Corner. For full details visit http://www.idigincubus.com/ . Deadline is Jan. 17, 2007 so plenty of time. I am entering the contest and would like to see fellow editors enter. Good luck!
  12. engaging piece. those elements of the surreal and absurd blend smoothly. awesome reel man.
  13. I thought it looked wicked. I have a HD LCD Flat Screen and our local cable station offers some channels on HD. Saw Blade 2 on HD and man it looked awesome I can tell it was down graded abit but I assume you will get the max resolution on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. By any chance do you know if Adobe DVD Encore is gonna support HD authoring in the near future. I know Sonic does but there is now way I can afford it.
  14. Felt as if I were in a video game. Wicked tempo and blending the elements.
  15. well you fooled me man. best footage I've seen done with the DVX100B. Good luck man.
  16. very impressive man. do you have any stats you could give us? lighting, camera, film stock ( looks film to me ) etc. I've always wanted to see a DP's featurette instead of a directors. That way you could watch the set ups. If you got some behind the scene footage would love to see it.
  17. why use stock music when you can hire a student @ a university. I hired a musician who is getting his masters in musicial composition and he is a professionally trained classical guitarist. he has an all access pass to professional music recording equipment. contact your local music department.
  18. visually stunning. i do agree that the screenplay needed more work but the ending caught me off guard and it was a welcome statement. would love to see this on HD. I know quicktime also offers the H.264 codec for HD videos. by the way will this be available on dvd?
  19. In my opinion the editing is key to any good reel. I didn't see a personality or style on this reel that reflects who you are. You had some stunning b&w footage which I would recommend focusing on in the next edit.
  20. enjoyed the pacing of the edit. the tempo was enough to give a feeling of hyperventilation. the yellow tones of lighting diffently added to the hysteria. very well done. do you know if you have a preloader on your flash player? it did lag alot and had to wait till the whole film finish and rewatch it.
  21. As far as a score is concerned. I recommend you contacting your music department. I found my composer at UTSA where he is getting his masters in Music Composition and he is a trained classical guitarist. Before I contacted him I made sure I had my homework done; storyboard, screenplay, breakdown of inserted music. These students have access to expensive and professional equipment for recording music. I did pay him a small fee but he was more than happy to help me out.
  22. I would suggest posting on the Creative Cow forum for that question. I did tons of research a year back on Smoke, I was trying to find a workshop to take courses on it. From what I found I believe it doesn't work on XP but you might just call Autodesk directly as well. Only wish I could afford the $50,000.00 G's to buy it. A production company I work with alot has a full Autodesk editing suite. I've seen it in use before and the workflow looks awesome. Well here is a link to CC http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/new_...cgi?forumid=159
  23. For me it was Grosse Pointe Blank. So freaking dull and pretentious. It was the only movie I ever walked out of from the theatre. Could only take 20 minutes of it.
