  1. It s posible to use the arri 235 with the microforce ?
  2. OK , cool, but the thing is that they won't buy accesories, the production will rent them here , in my country ... So , can I use arri accesories ? and, the most important thing... its posible to use a WRC-1 ? or a preston? or another wireless follow focus? cause I wil be shooting very long and difficult long take, and Im sure I will need wireless... thanks !!
  3. I read that the chip of the REd cam , is 24.4 x 13,7 super 35 mm ... but if I divide those measures , gives me 1:78 proportion ... can sbdy explain me this? why 1:78 is the equivalent of super 35 mm ?

    RED CAMERA

Hi, Im shooting a feature film with this camera in 2 month aprx... the camera is arriving in 2 week to the production company... only the body is arriving, ... does anybody knows the perfetc configuration for the camera? follow focus, mattexox.. rods? bridge plate... on board monitor? _you can use an inalambric video asist? and follow focus ? thanks !!
  6. there is a tape hook on the camera body? for focus pulling?
  7. sbdy has a table of the corresponding time-meters? , like , 400 feet : 4 min 20 segs... , but in 3 perf , and in meters..? thanks !
  8. hi !! , I worked in a small feature film , pulling focus , with a HD sony 900 + the pro 35 + high speed lenses ... this pro35, was suposed to give you the "same" as If you were shooting in 35 mm ... before this job, I thought in HD I was going to have more DoF compared to 35 mm .. or more or less the same as 35 mm + film negative , if using the pro 35, ... but when shooting , I felt a lot of difference in the DoF I was used to have when shooting with negative in 35 mm ... the lenses were perfect , the back focus also, but I had very little deph of field , compared to 35 mm negative shooting... an I wrong???? could this be posible?
  9. Thanks for the answers... now I understand... but now I have ahother doubt ... If I use an 85 mm on a s16 camera, Its like a 170 mm, but I have the same depht of field, no?
  10. try it, but it is not that way.... you ll have the same angle ... put a sr3 , put a 25 mm of 16mm, and then a 25 mm of 35mm, you will have the same angle of view..
  11. I have this doubt, : why in s16 the set starts in 9.5 , 12 , 16 , 25 and 50 mm, and if you need a tele you have to use an 85 or 135 mm of 35mm... why the set of 35 mm, usually starts in 16, 24, 32, 50, 85 mm..? why in s16mm you have like more wide open lenses ... I dont understand that, cause if you put a 50 mm of s16 in a sr3, and then you put a 50 mm of 35 mm, you have the same image? I have this doubt cause Im shooting a film, and the director always shoots in 35 mm, so he speaks of a 100 mm when we put a 50 mm of s16 in our sr3 ... if you have the same image... so then this doubt about the numbers occured, and nobody could answer it, in our camera crew !!! thanks..
  12. Im focus puller, and would like to buy one of these things for work.. thanks...!
  13. hello, I have one doubt, ... it is posible to use the ultraprime lenses or s4 with an sr2 or sr3? is this posible? cause you have the eyepiece near the lense mount ... thanks..
  14. OK ! I wil try it in the next camera test...! thanks !!!!
  15. Well finally, we used LT mags, so we couldn't rewind it, ... hehe.. but thanks !! ... In this forum I heard a couple of 1AC , that rewind the film in the chanching bag, and didnt use the camera in reverse option.. they agreed as you say, that it may cause damage to the perfs... are you sure of this? cause it is a pain in the... to rewind it by hand!! hehe ... I only do it if I test a BL , or a SR ... those camera that dont have the reverse run... have you ever had any problem ?
  16. hello, How do you set reverse run in the arricam ST and LT ? Im shooting a camera steadyness chart test in 2 hours... I can't find it in the manual... I will ask this in the rental house, but I like the forum !
  17. hi, what technics do you have for focus pulling when yo have to do a very difficult shot , when the camera is on a crane?? and have you ever have to do one with for example, a 200 mm or a longer telepohot lense, in a steady cam or a crane?
  18. hi, im shooting a feature film in dominicana, que are using a bl evolution . The mag counter ok remainig unexposed film on the mag, the one you see from the loading part of the mag , has a dobue escaled numbers ... the first one, starts in 0 and goes up to 450 feet... the other one, which is above the other one also starst in 0 , but it goes up tu 645 , or sthing liker that... the thing is that I couldnt decifrate the upper scale.. both stars in 0, and boot are in feet.. does somebody noes what is this scales for? cause local second assist here also couldnt dominicans
  19. HAHAHA I hate when I have to use a set in feet, but, at the same time its cool cause you learn to use the feet system but , using feet , for me is painfull when thinking in long distances... so I prefer meter , but in short distances, less than a meter, for me is much easier in feet... what I do when I use lenses in feet, for example, make a note on your mattebox with the equivalences.. But if you do not have moments were you have to improvse, that is to say , think quickly, its not difficult ... So dont be afraid... there are much more things in the world to be afraid...
  20. well !! finally today I tested tested tested !!! and I think, I will do all in post... thank you all !!
  21. hi, im shooting a short film with the sony z1 , in hd format... we are planing to use the effect called cine frame 25 . So as to obtain a more filmic (not video, due to the camera movements and all that ) image ... Do you know if when blowing u the material to 35mm, I wil have any problem ? And, If shoot with gain, 3 db o 6db, not more, do I obtain a pretty image ( when blow up tl 35mm) and with the shutter ? more than 1/50 ??? I hope you understand my english !!! thanks !! ( and don´t tell me to test, cause I can´t )
  22. SOOOOOOooo the best thing I can do , is to test, test, test before shooting like DoP's do ... but, I need someone to assure me that, when shooting, if I work to acieve a good and correct colour balance , this is, good or normal contrast, not burned highlght, not blacks with noise... then in post, i can do whatever I want? for example, I can achieve an image like the film 300? or delicatessen? or anything else? or whatever image treatment I want?? cause that what I need to know.. !! thanks !
  23. after writting this post, I tried a few effects, with the photoshop.. and the best result I found was using 2500 K lights , and setting my camera at 5500 K . The result, an orange image. When I desaturated this image, It became brownish... so I thought, I can do this while shooting... to set this in the hd camera ... what do you think? I will also test this with the camera, next week... cause I`d never use it...
  24. generally like to do overall color tints in post. Exceptions to this are very strong color and brown tones. Strong color I usually use a lighter version of that I want so I can time it to the final color with less potential noise. It also allows me to entirely remove the effect, which probably wouldn't be plausible had I gone the whole 9 yards with a very strong color. An except ion to this exception is very strong red. I like doing this in camera because of the slightly unsharp look it makes on film. For brown tones, I just use the exact filter I want because browns are tricky to get right in RGB numbers for some reason. Im shooting a shortcut in hd, sony hdv-z1 , I was thinking on usin a tobac filter in camera, but I realize, that perhaps I will be needing the stop I loose with the filter... so I was thinking to do it in post... till now !! that I red your article... can you explain me more about your expierence in brown correction or filter in camera? thanks...
