  1. yeah, i think i'm gonna wait and get either of those. the more i look into it the more i see that with each model panasonic seems to be fixing things and adding better features, like a better LCD. problem is that the original is available to me now, and the other models are in the indefinite future. well, waiting has it's benefits . . .

    100 or 100A?

i have found a guy who can sell me his used DVX-100 for cheap, but my only worry is whether or not this model is obsolete. should i wait until an A or B comes along, or should i jump for the original?
  3. i just liked how real it was. no big, fake, hollywood actors trying to portray heroism, just real emotions shown on screen. i know for some it's still to soon, but i really appreciated the reverence throughout the film. i'd encourage everyone to see it. What's the name of Oliver stone's Sept.11 film? think its like World trade center or somethin . . . anyways, have you guys seen the trailer for that? it's idiotic. nicolas cage is in the starring role and it kills me. the trailer has a clip where he and some other firemen are standing outside the burning trade center, and he gives this hollywood-stereotypical "who's gonna risk their lives with me" phrase, that makes you want to puke. the real heroes of 9/11 deserve better.
  4. personally, i hate movie critics. they see so many movies that they become extremely cynical. i agree N_Chaszeyka, paying 6.50 to get to see a multi-million dollar project is worth almost any movie. yeah, what is with all these long movies now? sure, some movies need the long playing-time (Lord of the Rings), but now every movie is going for the 3-hour length, and they dont need it. are the editors so unskilled that the can't edit down to a good length and get rid of all the extra crap they dont need? it's better to leave the audience wanting more than making them want it to end . . . and as a little side note, a three-hour plus movie kills your day. you can go to a nice two-hour movie and leave entertained and refreshed, not dead-tired from sitting in the same position too long.
  5. hey, i didn't know anyone on here was from oregon . . . yeah, i live in beaverton, which of course is right next to good old p-town. i'm just your basic editor with artistic vision, but if you need a crewman for a project, i'm around and willing to learn anything i can. kyle
  6. yeah, i've got a full adobe set-up right now, and i have to say i really like how all the programs connect. no need to close up one program, create a file in another, and import into another. all the adobe stuff works together. you can be in premiere pro, create a photoshop file, clip, etc. , select "edit in CS2, (or any other one of their programs, like after effects,)" manipulate/finetune in that program, and when you click save, it automatically updates in anything it's connected to (like premeire pro) plus, if you work in a group, the have a these little notes/messages you can attach so as to communicate better with coworkers. i love it. instead of having to always get up and phisically show the guy on his system what you want to do, you can have a note system with visual cues to quicken the process. yeah, and their cheap too, that's always a bonus. especially if you buy in a bundle. and once you've got the programs, you can update to the newer versions for half the price, kinda an incentive to stay with them. so, all i can say is, i'd get adobe. (wait. i already did . . .)
  7. wow, this may be a little late, but i can give good advice here. first, let me say that about 70 percent of the websites selling this baby are friggin scams . . . very dissappointing. they all have their own way of tricking you too. typical one is where they list of the camera specs, but then never mention what you'll get . . . so you end up with an import model with no internal hardware or anything else important . . . and then you have to pay a restock fee of course. i almost got scammed that way, and luckily by God's grace i got out, but you may not be so fortunate. all i can say is, go with a panasonic authorised dealer, or procede cautiously through the used market. good luck!
  8. k, i'm an amateur (currently, i am working toward a film career) whose looking at getting a pro-level camera. i've done a couple paid projects, but nothing above unimportant clubs or HS sports vid level, and all of it on tiny, cheap, plastic consumer cameras with no options. i have an entire adobe suite of programs, so editing-wise im set, but what i dont have is a good quality camera a guy in the business i know recommended the DVX to me, and i like it a lot, but the only question i have is, is it a good camera for a first-timer to get, or should i go with something simpler? i can get it used and in great condition from a reputable guy in my area for $2,000 . . . which is very cheap, but would buying it leave me stranded with an incomprehensible object? i've never used a camera with this many options before . . . im a quick learner, but some thing can take years to learn, and i dont want this camera to sit on a shelf more than a couple weeks! thanks for the help
