  1. Hi I am looking for filters for my redrock matebox which fits 4x5.65" or even 4x4". As such filters are very expensive I would like to know if better go with 4x4 be able to use it with smaller mateboxes. Also I have found expensive ones from Schneider or Tiffen. Is there any brand which offers a set of filters bit less expensive but good quality? Many thanks.
  2. Wow that's nice my canon 5d has even a larger sensor then a super 35 cine cam ? mmwahhhh  BTW I am a big fan of jennifers body. May I kindly ask you what camera set up did you use for the two girls bedroom kissing scene ? I think this was just an amazing lowlight shot.
  3. Hi David, thanks for your reply. I shoot my movie on a canon 5d and it's fullframe sensor. So people told me if I will go wider then 35mm and will pan and tilt indoor then the image will not look natural, it will look more like in a 3D videogame. Is that correct ? Can I ask you what kinda lens do you use on the very big cameras when it concerns indoor shootings and what is the standard widerange for outdoor shootings ?
  4. I just saw the movie "runaway bride" with julia roberts and richard gere in television playing and I recognised that there weren't any wide lens shots in it. It looks like the whole movie was shot on 50mm or 35mm lenses. Is that the standard range for movies ? I have a zeiss 85mm 1.4 and looking now to buy an additional lens but I can't decide wheter go for the 35mm 2.0 or the 50mm 1.4 for having a standard movie lens. thanks for your help.
  5. Hi all For my filmproject I have fullfilled already many pages. Now I would like to do a script withit. Could anyone tell me where I can download a script - program for my mac or give some link to an internet store where I could buy any program ? Many thanks Danielito
  6. Hi Grahamstanely thanks for your reply. Yeah after I did some research I think the a1 is good enough for doing filmouts. check this link, it's not too bad and it's done with an xh-a1 with an M2 ... http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=96955
  7. Hi Tim I don't understand your comment so well, you are saying you prefer the quality of the canon lens but when I click to your link I see only a quite flat image of the xh-a1 compare to the hvx200. On this comparisation the hvx200 has much clearer image quality..
  8. Hi all I was just reading all the different prospects and I got no clue which camera would be the best for  shooting a movie in cinematic look, as they run all 24p. Which one would be the best choice from all the 3 mentionned ? Thanks for your help
  9. Hey hi yo! I am looking to shoot a sequence in a darker room with two actors conversation. to make the picture look good I need some light.. what kind of lighting do I need to buy? Is this any light people also use for still picture photography or do I need to go for something special ? Could you guys provide a homepage for buying filmset lights? Many thanks, Danielito
  10. Yo! You remember when seeing a movie and two people are arguing about something then the camera switches all the time from the back of the one to the other.. in my film we need to shoot a conversation with two people. so normaly as I have seen they put a camera behind each person and then they switch the camera from one to the other who is talking in post. now we have only one camera so it looks not that professional to put one camera only in front of the two actors and film the conversation instead of showing the scene from one perspective to the other... how can I trick that out with only one camera ? Many thanks!
  11. Hi all I am going to prepare post production system for the new camera of Canon XH A1 which comes out in November. Could anybody tell me how powerfull the computer needs to be for handling HDV in post. What is better Windows or Mac systems? And which programs do you recommend to realize the "cine style look" in post ? Thanks for the help! Danielito
  12. thanks for the info.

    taff question

Hi all could anybody tell me which cam does shoot sharper images for example shooting a colored poisen frog ? As far as I know DVX100 series are good for broadcast but is the XL2 better for filming nature documentaries or does the DVX also do a good job for that? I guess one of the cam must have a sharper resolution and I try to figure out which it is. Thanks for the help! Danielito
  14. hi all we know now the dvx100b is the newest model which came after the dvx100a but what about the dvx102? is this a better release then the dvx100b? thanks for the help!
  15. I am looking forward to do a film in 16:9 on 24p. But later I would like also to use the camera for natural sights filming. So I guess the 16:9 mode on the XL2 is a big issue for realizing a film with the filmlook and then shoot also documental films, so I think that the dvx does have 4:3 chips is a big minus for what I wanna do right? but then when I only letterbox in post the image will loos resolution anyway so better shoot on a xl2 from beginning don't you think ?
  16. Hi I am on buying the dvx100b next week for making a film in 16:9 24p. Now I heard the cam owns 4:3 CCD's chips and the image get streched if I want to shoot 16:9 what is kinda bullcrap. So that means it doesn't really look good to shoot 16:9 ? Should I go for the XL2 better ? thanks a lot for your help! Danielito
  17. first many thanks about all your posts. When I saw 28 days later, I was in Argentina. People there might not be as spoiled watching a film as people might be in other countries. But before I went inside the theater, I saw the people coming out which saw the show before and they had really coincided faces.. after I saw the film I had to add.. that was indeed a better film as a lot of the existing Hollywood crap . - and it was shot with a Canon XL1s. So: the DVX has better crazy stuff to do, concerning the image: the Xl2 does 16:9 better what I heard images are absolutely sharp. If I can do the film look stuff in post with a good program, so I guess xl2 is the good choice right? Anybody knows good software for that ?
  18. hi Josh what about the resolution of xl2 on 24p mode. does it have 800.000 lines in progressive 24p or is it lower ? The DVX has only 470.000 lines which is pretty low and I guess on progressive it does have even less.. anybody nows about that ? many thanks Yo! I don't get HDV as it's too expensive.. HVX200, HD100 or ZE1 costs the double of a DVX100. and a sony fx1 I have rent it for a day and it's more for homevideo I guess.. or do you know any other HDV for a more reasonable price ? thanks for info!
  19. thanks for the advise Paul, what about the M2 adapter. do I need to buy it after I have buyed the camera or is the m2 adapter a universal size which I can use at any cams ?
  20. In short their recommendation for film look and potential transfer to 35mm the JVC is the camera to use. It shoots true 24P and has more lines of resolution than the HVX. I don't understand this really. The HVX does proHD but the JVC does HD. So why should the JVC have better resolution as the HVX ?
  21. Hi, I have decided now to go for the XL2 or the DVX100B camera for my first film, as there is much more to buy for getting a film look (m2 adapter, mattebox, prime lenses, light, and what not). So now I just would like to have some advises for which camera I should go for. The DVX100B is supposed to be a good camera as many people work with it. But it has just a poor 10x zoom and the lens is not changable. The XL2 has a 20x zoom what I real like but I heard it does not really shoot 24p. I heard it shoots on 60i and simulates 24p only. And is the shutter speed as good as the one from DVX100B? Does the cam also have the features to change the gamma curves as the DVX100B? Thanks a lot for your help! Danielito
