  1. Friends, I am shooting a drama with half of film inside a house and half on road. I am using Sony F65 with ultraprime lenses. I was toying with the idea of shooting the outdoor portion of the film which consists of Landspcapes (road journey) & in car with Anamorphic lenses. What should I keep in mind when am doing car interiors(Dialogues) with anamorphic. We will be shooting some scenes taking the car on low loader and some on a Green Screen. As regards with Green Screen panoramic background plates, am still wondering if it should be shot anamrophic or I will be good with Canon 5D Mark2 cameras rigged on a car as done in 24. Any insight, experience would be really helpful. Cheers!
  2. Hi friends, Has anyone yet used TOLAND asc digital assistant? http://www.chemicalwedding.tv/toland.html looks great. PCAM has been around for a long time. I am not sure which one to go for? Please give your feedback. Cheers!
  3. Hi, Thanks for your inputs. My first guess was same, the GG not being properly placed too and 2nd that it could be 4perf GG. The rental house claims that had the GG would damage the shutter if it was loose or out of the slot. So I wondered how come the Shutter is not damaged. This is the reply I got from ARRI GB Senior Technician, which I want to share. "Please can you check that the ground glass is seated properly in to the ground glass holder? if this is ok then you need to use a parallax tube to adjust if necessary the ground glass position of the ground glass in relation to the PL mount and film gate, hope this helps, please do not hesitate to contact me for further information, many thanks in advance. Best regards Richard Hester Senior Technician" Thanks for your help once again. Cheers!
  4. Friends, Had a weird experience on a 3perf S35mm - Arri Extreme. I am attaching a frame from the frameleader, I shot. (hope it is attached) The frame leader is totally out of synch of the ground glass. Therefore, What I see is not what I get. I got images with no headroom. Anyone out here who can help me find why has this happened. What could possibly be wrong. Camera rental house couldn't find any problem with the camera. Thanks a lot. Cheers!
  5. If you are in UK, aim for NFTS (National Film +Television School) Beaconsfield. As it has been pointed out that what works for A may not work for B. I think there are hundreds of us who have been in this situation and many more are going to be. If you can get an assistants job with a busy dop take it and go with the tide, guess its difficult in UK at the moment. I would say keep both the options open and take it as it comes. Good Luck Cheers!
  6. Wow! really good stuff here. Thanks for sharing guys. Cheers!

  8. Hello, Thanks for your suggestions. I think Liquid nitrogen was a good idea but the location offered me a lovely hillock behind it, full of greenery. So I went with the regular smoke and it looked beautiful. Thanks for your time. Cheers!
  9. Hi, Am shooting a sequence on a boat in a lake and wonder if anyone has tried to create morning mist or smokey one. I wonder if Dry ice is the answer. Any ideas or experiences ? Cheers!
  10. Hiya, How Does one check the Registration/Steadi Test, since one can't project the exposed negative like the normal 35mm test neg. Thanks a lot. Cheers.
  11. Rohini, you should meet Animation guys at the Famous Studio in Mahalaxm, Mumbaii. They have animation department and do most of the animation shooting out there. It's not much different from lighting anything else. Hope it would be helpful. Cheers!
  12. Customs shouldn't bother as long as they have no reason to believe that the equipment you are carrying, you will sell it in the country. So you should look into CARNET (if Nepal is member of it ) http://www.uscib.org/index.asp?documentID=1843 . It is the immigration which might hassle but they wouldn't knw what you carrying in ur bags. If you are on Journalist visa then its okay. Nepal is bit unpredictable, anyway. Video Camera is fine you could be a visitor who is carrying a personal camera of your own, making videos of your own trip. But with BOOM rods and Tripod am not sure how they going to look at the whole thing. Tripod (esp. Video/film ones) and boom rod invites lot of attention. It shouldn't be a problem if you have papers. In India things should be better. I shot with Panasonic dvx100 in India and Pakistan we had radio mics and a Sennheiser K6 mostly on camera. They normally don't check what you are carrying as a foreign tourist and Photograph/Video equipment goes in easily. Good Luck
  13. I saw it today and wondered if lighting inside the restraunt for people sitting was straight from the lamps placed next to them. I couldn't see any other place to hide them. The faces were well exposed and the lamps were blown out but in a nice way. Was it 800t or 500t? anyone got info on that. Cheers!
  14. How does one get 'motion blurr' while shooting film similar to what one can get using the dvcamera like PD150 when shutter is set at lower speed or in still cameras. Think 'Trauma' shot by John Mathieson, had similar effect. Anyone around here who can throw some light on the techniques used in blurring the moving images shot on film. Cheers!
  15. Hi Marcel, How is it going? Wondering if you shooting your feature on HDCAM or Film. Still in Pune? Cheers!
