Can't wait to see more!
-
I really love what I'm seeing from this camera....global shutter, RAW DNG and sensor size I miss S16 in this age of digital cinema cameras. My only wish....that we could get a higher resolution than 1080.
-
Thanks for the info!

Great stuff Felix! So many well lit shots. I really loved where the overhead fluorescent turned on (ca. halfway through the reel). The pacing felt just fine, enough time to really see the lighting and composure. While still being short enough to keep me wanting more. Care to elaborate on any of the lighting set-ups?

It is a great book..... But you're right that is expensive! I don't remember paying that much. Maybe it's out of print now. You could check your local library. It's a long shot, but you never know.

I'm curious about that myself. With my (very limited) tests so far, it has held up quite well. I'm not sure if that's due to the Technicolor style itself or due to the fact that I've used 5DtoRGB. One thing that I have noticed, I find myself second guessing my choice for exposure. Since there aren't any true blacks, I feel like I'm overexposing.

I know I'm a little late to the game here, but.... this looks great! When and where is this going to be released? -
Thanks Phil, very informative. I wonder if you've had time to test the new Technicolor CineStyle? And your opinion of its potential.

Fantastic information, thank you.

Really cool new gel

I found a few prices from a UK site. http://www.lcauk.com/#/roscoview/4527949163 Looks like the roll is a bit over $900 (£480). -
Hi Philip, I'm not sure if it does or doesn't. We have one at the office but I'm on holiday now and won't be back for at least a week. I could also be getting it confused with one of our other cams. You could try posting on the dvx site (dvxuser). They have a forum for the HPX500. Let us know what you find out. Miles

Philip, Doesn't the 500 have the ability for "auto-tracking white balance"? Could this have been switched on? Miles

I just ran across this! Ebay Item number: 320166502512. This guy is everywhere!
-
That has got to be a scam. In fact it looks like a pic from an older sale from a member of this forum. Tim Carroll if I'm not mistaken. Ebay really needs to do something about this.
-
Very nice! Something you don't get to see everyday. Thanks for putting that up.

Check out his thread......... http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...showtopic=23660 He mentions allfilmmarket. I wonder if he has more information?
-
I'll keep a look out for information and let you know if I run across anything. If you get it working I'd love to see some photos and hear about your experiences. Thanks, Miles

Hi Ole, That is one strange looking camera! I ran across a few things..... http://konvas.org/pipermail/cinema_konvas....ril/001565.html http://www.commiecam.com/16p.html Not sure if it will help much. I'm sure Olexandr will know something about it. Miles

Is this ebay Konvas seller ok to buy from?
Miles Heckendorn replied to adam berk's topic in Russian Gear
Hi Adam, I've bought from him before, no problems. In fact it was very smooth, but my purchase was MUCH smaller (lens). So I can understand the reluctance. Miles -
I doubt that it will work. But I just ran across this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/CANON-XL1-XL2-CAMERA-X...1QQcmdZViewItem or if that doesn't work...... Item number: 260105410133 It's funny what you find when you search for "arri". :) Miles

If anyone is interested...... One of the most common ways in the U.S. to use music in a TV broadcast situation is to get a license through ASCAP. http://www.ascap.com/licensing/ Here in Norway I think the group is TONE ( I could be very wrong about this). But I have never had to deal with then directly. P.S. I can't wait to get my copy of "Kodachrome" on DVD. Great work!

Not sure if this has been posted yet........ I saw this link for a Red rental. The original post was on b-roll.net Rental..... https://silverado.cc/shop/product.php?produ...at=1&page=1 Original b-roll thread http://www.b-roll.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17651

Back when I lived in the US, I knew of a few freelancers that would offer PAL as their main shooting platform (beta, SP & Digi). It was a better resolution (as you stated) and it was closer to 24fps. This was before 24fps cameras. Of course they would transfer over to NTSC for final output. If you have time for the conversion it's not a bad idea.
