  1. Hi, Does anyone know if it would be possible to recieve a signal from a Modulus 3000 on a Titan Transvideo reciever? Which Modulus channel responds to Transvideo's A, B, C or D, if any? We are using a Modulus system and it works great, but want a second small wireless monitor and can only get hold of a Transvideo with built in Titan it seems. Any thoughts would be much appriciated!
  2. please correct me if I'm wrong. A 50mm lens will give a different field of view on different formats (35mm, S16...). That's because the gate (or sensor in the case of video or digital photography) is different in size. If you mount a 50mm lens on a 16mm camera you will only use a smaller inner part of the picture the lens projects and the lens will have a narrower field of view/it will be more telephoto (as opposed to if you mounted the lens on a 35mm camera). As explained by others. The depth of field will however be the same for a 50mm lens (or any specific lens) whether you mount it on a 16mm camera or a 35mm camera (or a 2/3 chip camera). Given of course that the stop is the same, the distance to subject is the same and you choose the same circle of confusion to calculate (or look up) the depth of field. The reason people tend to talk about formats with smaller gates/sensors as having more depth of field is that you will use wider angle lenses shooting on those formats. For a close-up shooting on 16mm maybe you would use a 50mm lens. For the same shot but shooting on 35mm you would use a 100mm lens instead . A 50mm lens has more depth of field than a 100mm lens.
  3. Hi, Here's a pdf I made some time ago (I have uploaded it as an attachment, if it doesn't work let me know and I can email it to you). It shows film length vs time in 3-perf/4-pert and 24/25 fps. The first page is feet, the second meters. I had a printshop print cards on both sides and laminate them, got very neat indeed ;) All time calculations are rounded off down to nearest second, so to be on the safe side. The length calculations at the bottom of each page are more precise so you can multiply them if you need to. Hope this will serve you well. I made one for 16mm aswell, with a star chart on the back side, if anyone is interested. David Gylje 35mm.pdf
  4. What I do is I label each mag A, B, C and so on with camera tape. Then I also keep a written record which letter corresponds to which serial number, so that I will know that (for instance) mag A is/was 3594, mag B 1196 and so on long after the shoot if necessary.
  5. On the Fargo Special Edition DVD there is a commentary track with Roger Deakins which I like. Also, though not exactly a commentary track, on the American Beuty DVD there is a section where Sam Mendes and Conrad Hall talks you through story boards for parts of the movie. Which DVDs with DP commentaries have you seen?
  6. It really is a great forum! I am mostly reading and learning for the moment, but will definitely post in time. I hope this is alright.
